OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is visiting Seoul, South Korea this week. It is speculated that he will discuss AI chip collaboration with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won. Altman may also negotiate with Samsung Electronics regarding contract manufacturing and memory collaboration. He is in discussions with investors and chip manufacturers like TSMC about the possibility of establishing a new chip company dedicated to developing specialized chips for AI model training and construction, as well as setting up a chip manufacturing plant. Altman is also seeking billions of dollars in investment to support this plan.

Sapeon, an AI chip startup supported by South Korea's SK Group, announced on Thursday that its latest model, the SapeonX330, is now available for data centers, joining the global race for AI chip development against major competitors such as Nvidia.

SK Group will unveil its artificial intelligence strategic vision at the SK Technology Summit taking place on November 16-17. The company will showcase 190 core technologies across six major fields, over 60% of which are based on artificial intelligence, reflecting SK Group's strategic positioning of AI as the core driver of business growth.
